Programme

This is a truly effective programme for all children, but especially so for children with learning difficulties: Autism, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dysgraphia .

It is widely used as a resource for children who are being homeschooled. 

The programme covers letters, capitals, lower case, numbers, size, shape, placement, directionality, smaller size, fluency, neatness, words to paragraphs .  It features easy to follow instructions, review and mastery activities to avoid reversal of letters and numbers.

The programme is designed to give children many opportunities to develop motor memory as well as visual memory experiences of letters and numbers. The use of the wooden pieces, slate board, playdough, songs and actions make this a very successful multi-sensory programme.

Level 0 

This level introduces Early childhood and older children with disabilities to handwriting using a crayon or marker to write/ draw with and how to go about teaching a child to do that. 

 

 This programme uses developmental sequences for shapes, pre-strokes, letters and numbers to progress the child to the right amount of awareness needed for the next level, Readiness Level- 1.

Word Time is a unique programme designed to teach words and concepts at this level.  Suitable for Early Childhood, New Entrants and older children with Special Needs.

Mat Man Books are a fun way to introduce many concepts at this level.

 There are online games and activities suitable for Level 0 and Level 1 for Mat Man.

Level 1 

Year One-covers printing letters and numbers using playdough, magnetic shapes and writing screen, wooden shapes, chalk and pencil. Sentence School is a writing programme placed here in the curriculum.

Level 2   

Year Two- covers printing letters and numbers with greater skill and speed using pencil. For more information and product detail  click here.
 

Level 3

Year Three- covers writing in sentences, paragraphs, grammar and links to reading and storywriting. There is an extension for those who need extra practice in printing and would prefer to print rather than proceed to Level 4 and cursive. For more information and product detail click here.

Level 4  

Year Four- introduces cursive writing that is often a great help for children with writing and visual difficulties. Children often gain benefit from learning to write in a cursive style because the starting place is determined at the beginning of the word rather than each letter.
